Learn More About Reggio Emilia

Read an article from the September 23, 2007 New York Times. It describes several New York City schools that are following the Reggio Approach as well as giving some background on Reggio itself. It mentions Atlanta as being as being a hub of Reggio activity. Under the Reggio Emilia system, children investigate themes like angels or elevators; in one famous example, they built water wheels and fountains for an amusement park for birds. The method so engages and electrifies children, its supporters contend, that they create work of unparalleled beauty and complexity.
This is one of many questions that educators in Reggio Emilia (and GPCP) ask themselves as a protagonist for their work with children. Read a posting from Grant Park's Teresa Cole about Reggio Emilia, its history, philosophy and approach to young children’s education.
